2. Affects the life of mining equipment and processing quality:Chlorides in crude oil (such as calcium chloride and magnesium chloride) will produce hydrochloric acid when heated, leading to equipment corrosion. Salt crude oil in the process of processing will also affect the activity of the catalyst, and even make it ineffective.

3. Increases transportation and storage costs:Water in crude oil increases the cost of storage and transportation. Water-containing crude oil requires more power consumption during transportation, and also increases the use of cooling water and fuel.

4. Affects the processing:The moisture in the crude oil will lead to the unstable operation of the fractionator, which may cause the tower shock accident in serious cases. In addition, the salty crude oil will pollute and corrode the equipment during the processing, affecting the separation quality of the product.‌
